HANDMADE PIECES FOR A TABLE DECORATION IN THE MEDITERRANEAN STYLE
Our new tableware series has more in common with the legendary island of Atlantis than just the name. Because with its flowing color gradients, it looks a bit as if it were a sunken treasure that was salvaged from the ocean floor.
However, it does not come from the sea, but from a small, fine manufacture in Portugal, where it is produced exclusively for BUTLERS by hand and under sustainable conditions . A real sweetheart, in which every part is unique. We spoke to BUTLERS Creative Director Frank Wehmeyer about the creation of this beautiful tableware series in Boho style and elicited one or two tips for combining.
EFFECT GLAZE MAKES EVERY PART UNIQUE
A modern tableware series in a handmade look , which gives the finishing touches to a Mediterranean-inspired dining table: this was the task for our designers and creatives. They immediately got to work and developed ATLANTIS. A collection that not only looks handmade, but actually is.
"Atlantis is handcrafted exclusively for us in a small factory in Portugal - according to our design specifications and under sustainable conditions," explains Frank Wehmeyer, who at BUTLERS and his team of creatives and buyers is responsible for the creation of collections and articles. Sustainable because the manufacture predominantly uses solar energy and production is as environmentally friendly as possible. All material residues are 100% recycled and used water is treated and returned to the cycle as usable water - for example for garden irrigation.
“What is special about Atlantis, however, is its effect glaze , also known as reactive glaze . The glaze is only applied to the product during the second firing process. And then it's time to wait and let yourself be surprised. Because the result cannot be influenced. Every part looks different and unique, ”says Wehmeyer, describing the production process.

Atlantis goes well with golden decorative accessories and harmonizes particularly well with pink and blue. -
But the stoneware tableware can also be combined well with macrame, wood and mother-of-pearl.
Whether rustic country table, maritime or Scandinavian-inspired table decorations: The great thing about Atlantis is that it can be used and combined in many ways. "For me, the tableware series is made for a Mediterranean table for a fish meal or for a feminine mermaid theme," says Wehmeyer and adds: "In terms of color, I would go for pink, white and gold." The creative director recommends natural ones Combine materials such as seaweed or macrame accessories. “That fits perfectly with the handmade look of the stoneware series,” says Wehmeyer. Decorative objects made of mother-of-pearl in shell or fish shapes round off the picture and make the theme board perfect.
Atlantis is available in coral, gray and blue - and of course you can mix and match these colors to your heart's content.
